SCHENECTADY, NY – The RIT women's basketball team (18-6, 13-4 Liberty League) continued its torrid late-season run, rolling to a convincing 71-38 victory over host Union College (15-8, 10-7 Liberty League) from Viniar Athletic Center on Friday evening. RIT has now won 10 straight games for the first time in program history.

Amy Reed won her 150th game at the university. She has led the Tigers to 80 wins over the last four seasons.
Senior
Tara Lynch (Green Township, NJ/Newton) led RIT with a season-high 27 points on 11-of-19 shooting, while hitting all five of her foul shots. Lynch is averaging 24.7 points on 56.9 percent shooting from the floor over the last three games.
Sabrina Wolfe (Troy, NY/Troy) tallied 19 points and added six boards, while
Brooke Stanley (Minnetonka, MN/Benilde-St. Margaret's) added eight points, five boards and four steals and
Cori Okada (Fullerton, CA/Troy) and
Alyssa Juergens (Rochester, NY/Hilton) had a game-high six assists apiece.
The Tigers shot 50 percent (30-for-60) from the field overall, including 61.3 percent from the field in the first half. RIT limited Union to just 29.8 percent shooting from the field overall and just 16 second half points.
"I was really proud of our defensive effort and execution on offense," said Reed. "We have a lot of different players stepping up and it's been fun to watch and coach."
Amber Raisner led the Dutchwomen with 15 points. Sophie Borg added nine points and seven boards.
The Tigers came out firing, scoring the first 14 points of the game in just 3:17 to take control. RIT would extend its lead to 21-4 before completing the first quarter with a 29-11 lead. RIT shot 62.5 percent (10-for-16) from the field and scored 19 points off 11 Union turnovers.
RIT would continue its strong shooting in the second quarter, drilling 60 percent of its shots (9-for-15) and extend its lead to 47-22 at the break. Lynch led all players with 17 first half points, while Wolfe was right behind with 14 points and six boards.
RIT would extend its lead to 59-30 after three quarters of play and keep up the intensity, running the lead to as many as 35 points late in the fourth quarter.
The Tigers are now 14-12 all-time against Union and won both regular season meetings between the two schools. RIT also knocked off Union, 66-59 from Clark Gym on Dec. 1. RIT has won seven straight games against the Dutchwomen, dating back to the 2016 Liberty League Semifinal.
RIT will close out the 2018-19 regular season at 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon vs. Bard College.
