Women's basketball wins at Skidmore Saturday

SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY -- The RIT (3-4, 1-1 Liberty League) women's basketball team won its first league game of the season with a 71-59 win at Skidmore College (2-6, 0-2 Liberty League) Saturday afternoon.

RIT led 20-13 after the first quarter, and 43-26 at halftime. The Tigers were outscored 22-17 in the third quarter, and tallied 11 points in the fourth quarter to win by 12. The Tigers shot 42.9 percent from the floor on 24-of-56 shooting. RIT went 3-for-12 from beyond the arc, and made 20-of-27 from the foul line.

Kaleesha Joseph (Somerville, MA/Prospect Hill Academy Charter) led RIT with a career-high 20 points to go along with 13 rebounds and five blocks. Brooke Stanley (Minnetonka, MN/Benilde-St. Margaret's) tallied 19 points, while Alyssa Juergens (Rochester, NY/Hilton) chipped in 13 points and six rebounds. Sabrina Wolfe (Troy, NY/Troy) grabbed eight rebounds and scored eight points.

Maddie Hastings and Clare Driscoll each scored 12 points for Skidmore, while Kate McCarney tallied 11 points for the Thoroughbreds who shot 37.9 percent from the floor. The Tigers held a 44-36 rebounding edge.

RIT returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 4, at Hamilton College at 2 p.m.
