Men's basketball wins on the road at Alfred University

ALFRED, NY -- Five Tigers scored in double figures as the RIT (3-2) men's basketball team defeated Alfred University (3-3) 78-69 on the road Tuesday evening.

RIT shot 51.0 percent from the floor on 26-of-51 shooting. The Tigers made 13-of-23 from beyond the arc, and went 13-of-26 from the foul line. Curtis Nesbit (Woodbridge, NJ/Woodbridge) led RIT with 14 points on 5-of-7 shooting to go along with four assists and three steals. Matt Anderson (Bennington, VT/Mt. Anthony Union) tallied 13 points, while Keegan Ocorr (Fairport, NY/Charles Finney) finished with 12 points. Michael Young (Brookly, NY/Nazareth Regional) scored 12 points, and Cobey Adekanbi (Bloomfield, CT/Loomis Chafee) finished with 10 points and seven rebounds.

Elliot Bowen led Alfred with a game-high 26 points and 11 rebounds, and Cole Eels tallied 18 points for the Saxons who shot 40.7 percent from the floor.

Trailing early in the first half, RIT went on a 15-3 run, taking a 19-8 lead on 3-pointer from Anderson. Young extended the Tigers lead to 13 points on his layup with 13:18 to play in the half. Anderson struck again from distance, draining another three-pointer, giving RIT its largest lead of the half that gave the Tigers a 37-22 lead. Bowen scored late in the half giving RIT a 48-37 halftime lead.

RIT maintained its lead into the second half, leading by as many as 14 points. Alfred got as close as seven points in the second half, but the Tigers made clutch free throws down the stretch to secure the 11-point win.

RIT returns to action on Friday, Dec. 6, when the Tigers begin Liberty League play at Vassar College at 7:30 p.m.
