ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (2-1) men's basketball team was defeated 70-65 by Nazareth College (4-0) in the opening game of the 2019 Mark's Pizzeria Crosstown Shootout hosted by the University of Rochester Thursday evening.
RIT led 30-28 at halftime, but were outscored 42-35 in the second half. The Tigers shot 41.0 percent from the floor on 25-of-61 shooting. RIT made 6-of-19 from beyond the arc and went 9-of-18 from the foul line. Curits Nesbit led RIT with 14 points.
Matt Anderson (Bennington, VT/Mt. Anthony Union) tallied 10 points and had nine rebounds, while
Keegan Ocorr (Fairport, NY/Charles Finney) tallied eight points and added four assists.
Stephen Gabel led Nazareth with 23 points and seven rebounds. Kevin Underwood finished with 10 points and seven rebounds. Zach Stenglein chipped in 12 points for the Golden Flyers who shot 36.5 percent from the floor.
RIT returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 23, when the Tigers face St. John Fisher College at 6 p.m. in the campus of the University of Rochester.
