ROCHESTER, N.Y. – RIT (0-2) freshman forward Kaleesha Joseph (Somerville, MA/Prospect Hill Academy Charter) totaled 12 points and a game-high 13 rebounds while sophomore forward Ayssa Juergens added 13 points, but it was visiting Brockport (1-0) earning a 65-64 victory over the No. 18 Tigers, Tuesday at Clark Gym.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Juergens staked RIT to an early 13-9 lead with 4:14 on the first-quarter clock, but the Golden Eagles responded with a 10-2 run for a 19-15 edge with 2:28 remaining.

RIT used an 8-2 surge into the second quarter to retake a one-point edge, 22-21, with 9:05 on the clock. The teams traded buckets before back-to-back Brockport three-pointers put the visitors on top, 32-28, with 2:15 left in the half.

Brockport opened a 37-32 lead 28 seconds before halftime, before a pair of free-throws by junior guard Sarah Henretta (Fairport, NY/Fairport) pulled the Tigers within three, 37-34, at intermission.

Junior guard Sabrina Wolfe (Troy, NY/Troy) knocked down a jumper to make it a one-point game in the opening seconds of the third quarter, but a 7-2 spurt, including five points by sophomore forward Kylee Rosbrook, gave the visitors a 42-36 lead with 8:54 on the clock.

Trailing, 46-40, at 7:53, the Tigers held Brockport without a field goal for nearly five minutes during a 9-1 run capped by a Joseph put back to move in front, 49-47, at 3:14.

Brockport finished the quarter on a 6-1 run and started the fourth with a 7-2 surge for a 60-53 lead with 7:51 left in regulation.

Juergens dropped an open three-pointer from the right wing and later hit a baseline jumper before Stanley capped the 7-0 Tiger run with a driving layup to knot the score, 60-60, with 4:38 on the clock.

Trailing, 62-61, with under two minutes to play, Juergens hit a turn-around jumper in the lane for a 63-62 lead with 1:22 on the clock.

Wolfe drew a foul after grabbing a defensive rebound with 14 seconds remaining, and hit the front end of her trip to the free-throw line for a 64-62 RIT lead. However, Brockport first-year guard Erin Radack hit a clutch three-pointer from the top of the left wing with 7.9 seconds on the clock for what proved to be the game-winning basket.
