ROCHESTER, NY -- When Logan Drackett (Calgary, Alberta/Calgary Canucks) chose to attend RIT, men's hockey coach Wayne Wilson and his staff knew they had landed a top-notch goaltender.

After all, Drackett was one of the three finalists for MVP in the Alberta Junior Hockey League in 2016-17. The eventual winner of the award: Cale Makar, who was the No. 4 overall pick in the 2017 NHL draft and now skates on defense for the NHL's Colorado Avalanche.

Now you know why big things were expected – and are being delivered – by Drackett. The junior from Calgary, Alberta, has been once again making big saves for the Tigers.

He and the Tigers will bring a 2-1 record into Saturday's Brick City Homecoming game against Merrimack College at Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial in downtown Rochester. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m.

Tickets for Saturday's game at Blue Cross Arena are still available and can be purchased online by clicking HERE.

The Tigers haven't played in front of their home fans yet this season. They opened at Colgate, winning 3-1 on Oct. 5, before traveling to Toledo, Ohio, last weekend for the Ice Breaker Tournament.

RIT knocked off Bowling Green 3-2 in overtime in the semifinals before falling to Ohio State 3-1 in the title game.

The traditional sea of orange will greet the Tigers, and Warriors (0-3 before Thursday's game at Holy Cross). That's one reason the coaching staff doesn't worry about motivation.

"That hasn't been a problem in this game," Wilson said. "We don't pump it up, we don't say the alumni are here, it's homecoming; it's not needed. There are a lot of games we have to be psychologists, but this isn't one of them."

Drackett enters the game with a 2.01 goals-against average and .940 save percentage. He has allowed just six goals, rather impressive considering Bowling Green was ranked 17th in the country and Ohio State was No. 12.

"He's been more aggressive, and maybe that comes with confidence," Wilson said. "He's been out at the top of the crease and challenging shooters. Now that 6-foot is the old 5-5, you have to be. Len Perno (the goalie coach) has done a really good job with our goalies."

The Tigers bring a four-game Brick City Homecoming game unbeaten streak into Saturday night (1-0-3). They defeated Colgate 6-1 last year, which was preceded by a 3-3 tie against Northeastern in 2017-18, a 1-1 tie with Holy Cross in 2016-17 and a 2-2 draw with Bowling Green in 2015-16.

Senior forward Shawn Cameron (Sherbrooke, Quebec/Cumberland Grads) (2 goals, 1 assist), senior defenseman Adam Brubacher (Elmira, Ontario/Powell River Kings) (1 goal, 2 assists) and junior forward Jake Hamacher (Corona, CA/Dubuque Fighting Saints) (3 assists) share the team lead in points.

The Tigers begin Atlantic Hockey play the following weekend with a pair of games in Colorado Springs against Air Force on Oct. 25-26. RIT will finally play at the Gene Polisseni Center on Nov. 1-2 against Holy Cross.

Video and live stats will be available for Friday's games. In addition, the contest will be aired on WITR 89.7 FM and Fox Sports 1280 with Ed Trefzger and Scott Biggar on the call.
