ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (11-6, 6-4 Liberty League) women's basketball team completed the weekend sweep with a 78-57 win over William Smith College (10-7, 6-5 Liberty League) Saturday afternoon. Prior to the game, the Tigers raised the banner commemorating its berth in the Sweet 16 of the 2018 NCAA Division III Tournament.
RIT got off to a hot start, leading 30-8 after the first quarter. The Tigers shot 50.0 percent from the floor in the quarter on 10-of-20 shooting.
Tara Lynch (Green Township, NJ/Newton) led the Tigers with eight points in the quarter, while
Sabrina Wolfe (Troy, NY/Troy) tallied seven points. William Smith came back in the second quarter, outscoring the Tigers 15-14 in the quarter as RIT led 44-23 at the break.
The Tigers came out firing in the second quarter, winning the quarter 25-17 to lead 69-40 heading into the fourth quarter. The Herons outscored RIT 17-9 in the final stanza.
Overall, RIT shot 41.9 percent from the floor on 26-of-62 shooting. The Tigers made 10-of-21 from beyond the arc, and went 16-of-24 from the foul line.
Sabrina Wolfe (Troy, NY/Troy) led the Tigers with 25 points and 10 rebounds.
Brooke Stanley (Minnetonka, MN/Benilde-St. Margaret's) finished with 16 points, while
Tara Lynch (Green Township, NJ/Newton) chipped in 12 points for the Tigers.
Cori Okada (Fullerton, CA/Troy) dished out a game-high nine assists to go along with eight points.
Mia Morrison led William Smith with 19 points and seven rebounds. Annaliese Schreder tallied 10 points off the bench for the Herons who shot 29.2 percent from the floor.
It is the 11th straight win by RIT over William Smith.
The Tigers return to action on Friday, Feb. 1 at Clarkson University, Tip-off in Potsdam, N.Y. is 5 p.m.
