BROCKPORT, NY – The RIT men's track and field team placed second out of 11 teams at the Brockport Golden Eagle Multi & Invitational, held at the Special Events & Recreation Center on Saturday. RIT finished with 141 team points, just behind host Brockport, who tallied 168 points.
Herlandt Lino (New Milford, CT/New Milford) earned a victory for the Tigers in the 5,000-meters, finishing 27 seconds ahead of the field in a time of 15:39.15. Neil Kohatkar (fourth – 16:11.31),
Sebastian Moreano (Medford, NY/Patchouge-Medford) (sixth – 16:33.65) and
Jay Humphreys (Sherman, CT/New Milford) (seventh – 16:34.42) also earned points for the Tigers in the event.
The Tigers began the day with three of the top four finishers in the 60-meter hurdles.
Max Gloskey (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) was second in the event with a speedy time of 8.53 seconds, while
Daniel Giuliano (Ledgewood, NJ/Roxbury) finished third in 9.03 seconds and
Dustin Van Kirk (Canton, CT/Canton) placed fourth in 9.09 seconds.
Matthew Lienhard (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) was fifth overall in the 60-meter dash, finishing with a time of 7.24 seconds.
Gloskey was also second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 22.78 seconds, while
Christopher Callejo (West Babylon, NY/Patchouge-Medford) finished seventh in 23.51 seconds.
Curtis Geiger (Allentown, PA/Emmaus) and Callejo finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 400-meter dash. Geiger crossed the finish line in 51.03 seconds, while Callejo was 62 one-hundredths of a second back.
Zach Thesier (Endicott, NY/Union-Endicott) was second in the 500-meters with a time of 1:08.27.
In middle distance events,
Evan Feigel (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Mendon) earned runner-up honors in the 3,000-meters, recording a time of 8:51.59.
Doug Luba (Plymouth Meeting, PA/Plymouth-Whitemarsh) earned a second place finish in the 1,000-meters with a time of 2:42.31, while
Andrew Chabot (Campton, NH/Plymouth Regional) was RIT's top finisher in the mile, crossing the finish line third overall in 4:28.07.
On the field side,
Thomas James (/) was the top collegiate performer in the pole vault, clearing 4.40 meters on his first attempt.
Jack Smith (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder),
Nicholas Baxter (Windsor, NY/Windsor),
Nick John (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca) and
Matthew Ryan (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder) also scored points for RIT in the event.
Ethan Ettienne (Lanham, MD/Model Secondary School for the Deaf) finished third in the weight throw with a toss of 15.59 meters.
Zach Darling (Rome, PA/Northeast Bradford) was right behind in fifth with a throw of 15.44 meters.
Zack Wigent (Fariport, NY/Fairport) was fourth in the high jump, clearing 1.78 meters on his first attempt at that height. Bradley Morrissette was seventh, surpassing 1.73 meters on his third attempt.
Devante Marshall (Gloversville, NY/Mayfield) was RIT's top finisher in the long jump with a leap of 6.43 meters.
Noah Flynn (Corning, NY/Corning-Painted Post) placed ninth overall.
RIT returns to action on Friday, Feb. 1, hosting the Tiger Invitational at 4 p.m. from the Gordon Field House.
