ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (4-13, 1-9 Liberty League) men's basketball team suffered a 65-60 home loss to Hobart College (11-7, 8-3 Liberty League) in Liberty League action from Clark Gymnasium Saturday afternoon. Prior to the game, the Tigers honored Veterans and Wounded Warriors.
RIT shot 42.4 percent from the floor on 25-of-59 shooting. The Tigers made 6-of-21 from beyond the arc, and were 4-of-5 from the foul line.
Chuck Okehie (Owings Mills, MD/McDonogh) led the Tigers with 14 points.
Curtis Nesbit (Woodbridge, NJ/Woodbridge) tallied 13 pointrs, while
Marcell Davis (Buffalo, NY/St. Joseph's Institute) grabbed nine rebounds to go along with seven points.
Tucker Lescoe led Hobart with 16 points. Colin Dougherty tallied 10 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Statesmen who shot 34.5 percent from the floor.
Trailing 28-24 at halftime, the Tigers began the second half on a 16-11 run, taking a 40-39 lead on a bucket from Cobey Adelkanbi with 13:26 remaining. The Statesmen ran off seven straight points right after, taking a 46-40 lead on a pair of Dougherty free throws.
RIT answered with a 10-4 spurt, tying the score at 50-50 on a 3-pointer from Nesbit with 6:43 remaining. Tied 52-52 late in the second half, Hobart closed the game on a 15-8 run to seal the win.
Hobart held a slight 39-36 rebounding edge, while the Tigers assisted on 12 baskets, forcing eight steals.
RIT returns to action on Friday, February 1 when the Tigers take on Clarkson University at 7 p.m. in Potsdam, N.Y.
