POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – The RIT (3-11, 0-6 Liberty League) men's basketball team lost 70-55 in Liberty League action from Vassar College (6-8, 2-5 Liberty League) Saturday afternoon.
RIT shot 33.3 percent from the floor on 20-of-60 shooting. The Tigers went 8-of-29 from beyond the arc, and made 7-of-15 from the foul line.
Marcell Davis (Buffalo, NY/St. Joseph's Institute) led the Tigers with 10 points and nine rebounds.
Will Atkinson (Orchard Park, NY/Canisius) and
Chase Lewis (Ewing, NJ/Princeton Day School) each scored eight point for the Tigers.
Paul Grinde led Vassar with 21 points and seven rebounds. Alex Seff tallied 14 points, while Lance Tebay tallied nine points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Brewers who shot 41.7 percent from the floor.
RIT led briefly in the first half, taking a 13-7 lead on a free throw from
Chuck Okehie (Owings Mills, MD/McDonogh) at the 14:48 mark. The Brewers closed out the first half on a 29-6 run, leading 36-18 at halftime. The Tigers responded in the second half, outscoring the Brewers 37-34, but could not overcome the large deficit.
RIT returns to action on Friday, Jan. 18 when the Tigers host St. Lawrence University at 7 p.m. on the floor of Clark Gymnasium.
