SARATOGA SPRINGS, NY -- The RIT (3-10, 0-6 Liberty League) men's basketball team was defeated 70-59 Friday evening in Liberty League action at league leader Skidmore College (8-4, 6-0 Liberty League).
RIT shot 33.3 percent from the floor on 21-of-63 shooting. The Tigers made 5-of-16 from beyond the arc, and went 12-of-17 from the foul line.
Marcell Davis (Buffalo, NY/St. Joseph's Institute) led the Tigers with 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Curtis Nesbit (Woodbridge, NJ/Woodbridge) tied his career high, tallying 14 points and
Will Atkinson (Orchard Park, NY/Canisius) chipped in nine points.
Edvinus Rupkus led Skidmore with 22 points on 7-of-12 shooting. Noah Meren tallied 21 points and had nine rebounds, while Greg Skoric finished with 13 points for the Thoroughbreds who shot 39.6 percent from the floor.
RIT led 26-24 at halftime, shooting 30.6 percent from the floor in the opening half. Davis led the Tigers with six points and five rebounds, while Atkinson tallied five points.
Matt Anderson (Bennington, VT/Mt. Anthony Union) and Master Rashford each had buckets in the closing seconds of the first half to give the Tigers the lead at the break.
Michael Young (Brookly, NY/Nazareth Regional) gave RIT a 38-37 lead, making one-of-two free throws at the 14:53 mark of the second half. The Thoroughbreds outscored the Tigers 33-21 the rest of the way to win by 11.
RIT returns to action on Saturday, January 12 when the Tigers play at Vassar College at 4 p.m.
