ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT women's hockey team returns home to take on College Hockey America rival Syracuse University at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 11 from the Gene Polisseni Center.
Tickets are $5 for adults, and $3 for youth. Admission is free for all RIT faculty, staff, alumni and students (one ticket per valid ID). Tickets are available at the Gene Polisseni Center Box Office, by calling (585) 475-4121 or by visiting
www.rittickets.com. Friday is free Kids night, as all youth 12 and under receive free admission.
The Tigers (7-10-4, 3-4-0 CHA) enter Friday's game looking to extend their winning streak to three games. Last weekend, RIT won a pair of non-conference road games at Brown, 2-1 and 2-0. On Friday,
Mallory Rushton (Amherst, Nova Scotia/New Hampton Prep) and
Ellie Larson (Hutchinson, MN/Hutchinson Tigers) scored for the Tigers, while
Brittney Gout (Caledon, Ontario/Brampton Canadettes) assisted on both goals.
Terra Lanteigne (Hatchet Lake, Nova Scotia/Charles P. Allen) made 27 saves in the win. Saturday,
Jordan Marchese (Mississauga, Ontario/Brampton Canadettes) scored a goal and added an assist, while
Kathryn Kennedy (Hamilton, Ontario/) also tallied and Lanteigne stopped 30 shots for her second shutout of the year.
Senior
Kendall Cornine (Kinnelon, NJ/Morristown Beard) leads the team in scoring with 15 points on eight goals and seven assists. Gout leads RIT with 10 assists and is second with 13 points. Lanteigne, the reigning CHA Goaltender of the Week, leads all of Division I with 663 saves and is ninth with a .938 save percentage. She is second among all CHA goaltenders with a 2.13 goals against average, while playing in all 21 games.
Syracuse enters Friday's game with a 4-15-1 overall record and is 4-3-0 in league play. The Orange are looking to snap a nine-game losing streak. Syracuse was last in action on Tuesday night at Rensselaer, falling, 2-1. Allie Munroe leads a balanced scoring attack with 13 points on three goals and 10 assists. Lauren Bellefontaine is right behind with 12 points, while Emma Polaski leads the squad with eight goals. Maddi Welch is 3-11-1 in net with a 3.73 goals against average and an .859 save percentage.
Tonight's game marks the second of four meetings between the two schools this season. RIT rallied from a 4-2 third period deficit with four goals in a span of 7:34 to knock off the Orange, 6-4 from Tennity Ice Pavilion on Nov. 16.
Logan Land (Turkey Point, Ontario/Holy Trinity Catholic) scored two goals, while Cornine,
Taylor Baker (Toronto, Ontario/North Toronto Collegiate Institute) and
Claudia Black (Newmarket, Ontario/St. Maximilian Kobe) added a goal and an assist apiece. Lanteigne made 38 saves in the win.
Syracuse leads the all-time series between the two schools, 19-8-2. The two teams will also play a home-and-home series on Feb. 15-16.
