Box Score BROCKPORT, NY – The RIT baseball team (14-12) made a furious late rally, but had its three-game winning streak snapped, falling to The College at Brockport (17-18), 8-7 at the Clark V. Whited Complex on chilly Sunday afternoon.

Brockport jumped on RIT right away on its senior day, scoring seven runs in the bottom of the first inning. RIT got on the board with a run in the fourth inning, before Brockport regained its seven-run lead with one in the fifth. RIT rallied, scoring once in the sixth and five times in the eighth inning, cutting the lead to 8-7. RIT had the tying and winning runs on base to end the eighth and had the tying run on in the ninth, but could not get the run across.

The Golden Eagles out-hit RIT, 14-10.

Offensively, Jason Schulz (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) was 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBIs for the Tigers. Navada Waterman (Coudersport, PA/Coudersport) went 2-for-5 with a pair of runs scored, while Benjamin Terzini (Liverpool, NY/Liverpool) added two hits and a RBI. Jeff Weber (Webster, NY/McQuaid Jesuit) and Gage Blasi (Baldwinsville, NY/C.W. Baker) came off the bench to deliver key RBI singles in the five-run eighth inning.

Brockport would get to RIT starter Kyle Povlock (Fairport, NY/Fairport) early, but the bullpen did a great job, as five relievers combined to allow just seven hits and one run over the final seven innings. Ben Clough (Tolland, CT/Tolland) fired two innings of scoreless relief, while Casey Grow (Victor, NY/Victor) made his collegiate debut on the mound in the fifth inning. Bryce Jelinick, Collin Reformat (Lancaster, NY/Lancaster) and Daniel Capra (North Salem, NY/North Salem) each hurled a scoreless inning.

Austin Hall led the Golden Eagles by going 3-for-5 with a double, run scored and two RBIs. Justin LaRosa added three hits, while Jack Wallwork and Drew DeBlais drove in a pair of runs apiece. Luke Gilbert was 2-for-4 with a run scored and RBI.

Cooper Meldrim picked up the win for Brockport, scattering six hits, while allowing two runs and striking out five batters in six innings. Chris Cramer pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the save.

Today marked the second meeting of the season between the two schools. RIT rolled to a 6-1 win over the Golden Eagles on April 18 at Tiger Stadium.
