Box Score AUBURNDALE, FL – The RIT baseball team (2-3) wrapped up its season-opening spring trip by falling to the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse (4-2) by a score of 4-0 at Chain of Lakes Park on Wednesday afternoon.
Travis Berg kept the RIT bats off balance, scattering five hits over eight shutout innings to earn the win. Caleb Willems threw a scoreless ninth inning to close it out.
La Crosse scored two runs in the second, one in the sixth and one in the eighth to pick up the win.
Both teams had six hits. RIT hurler
Jameson Moran (Geneseo, NY/Geneseo) was strong over six innings, allowing four hits and a pair of earned runs, while striking out seven batters.
Michael Campbell (Honeoye Falls, NY/McQuaid Jesuit) allowed a run over 1 2/3 innings, while
Bryce Jellinick (Grand Island, NY/Grand Island) made his collegiate debut, striking out the only batter he faced.
Patrick Mylott (Aurora, OH/Western Reserve Academy) had a pair of doubles to lead the Tigers offensively, while twin brother
Joey Mylott (Aurora, OH/Western Reserve Academy) had two singles.
The Tigers are back in action on Tuesday, March 20 with a non-league road contest at Elmira College that gets underway at 3 p.m.
