Women's basketball gets back in win column defeating Liberty League foe William Smith

ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT women's basketball team (8-1, 3-0 Liberty League) rallied in the fourth quarter to defeat Liberty League rival William Smith College (6-4, 0-3 Liberty League) 83-75 Friday evening from Clark Gym.
 
RIT shot 41.2 percent from the floor on 28-of-68 shooting. The Tigers were 9-of-28 behind the arc and 18-of-22 from the foul line. Cori Okada (Fullerton, CA/Troy) led the Tigers with a season-high 26 points and five assists. Amanda Olsen (Glen Mills, PA/Archmere Academy) tallied 14 points along with a team-best eight rebounds and four steals. Sabrina Wolfe (Troy, NY/Troy) chipped in 11 points and Jessica Glaz (Rockaway Beach, NY/Scholars Academy) tallied nine.
 
Mia Morrison led William Smith with 22 points and 14 rebounds. Stavriana Dimitrakopoulou chipped in 15 points.
 
The lead changed nine times in a back and forth first half. RIT shot 47.1% from the floor while William Smith shot 58.8%. It was 26-26 after one quarter and RIT led 45-44 at the half over the Herons.
 
RIT came out strong to start the second half, going on an 8-0 run to put them up 54-46 over the Herons with 6:30 remaining in the third. William Smith would respond wih an 18-5 run of its own to finish out the quarter, taking a 64-59 lead.
 
In the fourth, RIT took control, going on another 8-0 to reclaim the lead, 70-67. Okada scored 11 of her game-high 26 points in the remaining 2:27 of regulation to help give RIT the 83-75 victory.
 
This is the eighth consecutive time that RIT has defeated William Smith.
 
The Tigers return to action Saturday Jan. 6 when they host Liberty League foe Rensselaer at 2 p.m. from Clark Gym.
