Men's basketball suffers home loss to Liberty League rival Hobart

ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (4-6, 2-1 Liberty League) men's basketball team was defeated by Hobart College (7-3, 2-1 Liberty League) 75-64 in Liberty League action from Clark Gymnasium Friday evening. It is RIT's first Liberty League loss of the season.

RIT shot 47.2 percent from the floor on 25-of-53 shooting. The Tigers went just 2-for-12 from behind the arc, and made 12-of-16 from the foul line. Troy Pierre-Louis (Providence, RI/Berkshire School) was one of the three Tigers to score in double figures, finishing with 15 points. Anthony Lewis (Rochester, NY/Churchville-Chili) chipped in 14 points, while Robert Aguilera (Webster, NY/Webster Thomas) added 10 points and eight rebounds.

Jamal Lucas led Hobart with 17 points and six rebounds. Tucker Lescoe scored 15 points, while Sam Allen chipped in 13 points for the Statesmen, who shot 46.8 percent from the floor.

The first half ended tied 35-35. Hobart took a 31-25 lead late in the half on layup by Matt Walsh. The Tigers responded with 10-2 run, taking 35-33 lead on a jumper by Lewis with 23 seconds to play in the half. Lescoe made two free throws in the dying seconds of the half to tie the score at 35-35.

RIT shot 51.7 percent in the first half on 15-of-29 shooting. Lewis led RIT with 10 points, while Pierre-Louis added eight points.

The Tigers led early in the second half with Pierre-Louis drained a 3-pointer inside the first 30 seconds of the. Hobart took the lead for good on an old fashioned 3-point play by Lucas moments later. The Statesmen led by as many as 15 points in the second half, out scoring RIT 40-29 over the final 20 minutes.

RIT returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 6 when the Tigers host Rensselaer at 4 p.m. on the floor of Clark Gym.
