ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT women's swimming and diving team (7-1) defeated Liberty League rival William Smith College (6-2) by a score of 153-76 Wednesday evening from the Judson Pool.
RIT was in control from the start, winning 10 of the first 11 events en route to the convincing win. The 200-yard medley relay consisting of
Sedera Zbranak (Austin, TX/Lake Travis),
Amy Adams (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy),
Olivia Phillips (Louisville, CO/Fairview) and
Katie Mayer (Bristol, VT/Vergennes Union) finished first with a time of 1:50.36 to start the evening.
Addy Maykish (Caldwell, NJ/Caldwell) won the 1,000-yard freestyle by 51 seconds in 11:23.64 and the 500 yard freestyle in a time of 5:33.41. Zbranak was first in the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard breaststroke with times of 1:58.04 and 58.49, respectively. Phillips was RIT's top finisher in the 100-yard butterfly, winning in a time of 1:00.96.
Mayer,
Daylen Smith (Lockwood, NY/Waverly), and
Alex Sinnery (Groton, MA/Groton Dunstable) took the top three sports in the 50-yard freestyle. Mayer,
Eleanor O'Gorman (Yarmouth, ME/Yarmouth), and
Brenna Woodling (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East) also swept the top three spots in the 100-yard freestyle.
Patsy Hayes (San Jose, CA/Abraham Lincoln),
Alaiya Tuntemeke (Livonia, NY/Livonia), and
Jessica Kaups (Shaker Heights, OH/Shaker Heights) were 1-2-3 respectively, in both the 1- and 3-meter diving events. Hayes had a winning score of 239.95 in the 1-meter and 246.70 in the 3-meter event.
RIT returns to action Saturday Jan. 27 at 1 p.m. with its final home meet of the season against Nazareth. RIT will honor its seven members of the Class of 2018 as part of Senior Day.
