ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT men's hockey team heads out on the road for a pair of contests at Atlantic Hockey rival Holy Cross on Jan. 26-27. Both Friday and Saturday's games from the Hart Center will get underway at 7:05 p.m.

With just over a month remaining in the regular season, just seven points separates the top eight teams in the Atlantic Hockey standings. RIT is currently eighth with 17 points, despite playing the fewest amount of league games to date. Holy Cross is tied for first with 24 points.

RIT (9-12-2, 8-8-1 AHA) enters the weekend looking to build off of a 2-0 win over Canisius last Saturday. Erik Brown (Keene, Ontario/Kemptville 73's) scored both RIT goals, while goaltender Ian Andriano (Barrie, Ontario/Ottawa Jr. Senators) stopped all 12 shots he faced for his first collegiate win and shutout. RIT's 12 shots allowed on Saturday were a Division I program record low.

Brown is tied for fifth nationally with 16 goals and is tied with Myles Powell (Courtenay, British Columbia/Cowichan Valley Capitals) for the team points lead of 23. Powell and Gabe Valenzuela (Brampton, Ontario/North York Rangers) are tied for the team lead with 15 assists. Defensemen Adam Brubacher (Elmira, Ontario/Powell River Kings) and Matt Abt (Leduc, Alberta/Whitecourt Wolverines) have combined for 28 points. In goal, Andriano, who made his first two collegiate starts last weekend, leads the team with a 2.88 goals against average.

Holy Cross enters the weekend with a 10-9-7 record, including a 9-5-6 mark in conference play. Last weekend, the Crusaders split a pair of league games against Niagara, winning 3-1 on Friday before losing 6-0 Saturday. Scott Pooley is second among all Division I players with 18 goals and has 28 points to pace the Crusaders in 13 assists. In goal, Paul Berrafato has played in all 26 games and is 10-9-7 with a 2.50 goals against average and a .921 save percentage to go along with three shutouts.

RIT leads the all-time series between the two schools, 26-14-7, including a 22-9-7 edge since moving to Division I in 2005. This will be the third and fourth regular season meetings between RIT and Holy Cross this season. On Dec. 1-2, the two teams split a pair of games at the Gene Polisseni Center, with Holy Cross winning game one 4-2 and RIT earning a 5-3 win in game two. Brown had two goals and an assist in the two games for RIT, while Logan scored the game-winner on Dec. 2.

Both games will be broadcast over the airwaves on WITR 89.7 FM and Fox Sports 1280 AM, with Ed Trefzger and Scott Biggar on the call. There will also be live video and live stats will also be available.
