ROCHESTER, NY -- the RIT (4-3) men's swimming and diving team was defeated 167.5-132.5 by University of Rochester (6-4) in Liberty League action from Judson Pool Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers took four of the top five places in the 200-yard freestyle.
Eric Moss (Irvington, NY/Irvington) won the event in 1:46.79, while
Mark Truskinovsky (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville North) was third (1:49.59).
Tyler Allen (Newark, NY/Newark) was fourth (1:52.70), and
Tyler Schwarz (Stanley, NY/Marcus Whitman) was fifth (1:53.93).
Winners included
Nicholas Genovese (Lincoln, MA/Lincoln-Sudbury) in the 100-yard backstroke (54.08). Moss won his second event of the day in the the 500-yard freestyle (4:53.64).
Joe Wang (Framingham, MA/Framingham) and Jimmy Antonelli were third and fourth respectively in the event.Â
RIT earned valuable points in the diving competition. In the 3-meter competition,
Alex Dieroff (Syracuse, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) won with a score of 287.70.
Ben Hamilton (Addison, NY/Addison) was second with a score of 277.25.
Jon Bauer (Fairview, PA/McDowell) placed fourth, and
Brian Cushman (El Cajon, CA/Grossmont) was fifth as RIT earned 16 points in the event. Hamilton won the 1-meter event with a score of 264.82. Dieroff was second (256.05), while Bauer was fourth and Cushman was fifth.
RIT finished the meet with a win in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team of Genovese, Allen,
Jason Cook (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) and
Ryan Facchine (Fairview, PA/Fairview) won the event in a time of 1:27.37. The team of
Adam Reitz (Hilton, NY/Hilton), Truskinovsky, Zack Ward and Moss placed third in a time of 1:31.56.
RIT returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 27 when the Tigers host Nazareth College at 1 p.m. from Judson Pool.
