Women's basketball improves to 6-0 in Liberty League play with win over Skidmore

ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (11-1, 6-0 Liberty League) women's basketball team defeated Skidmore College (6-7, 4-2 Liberty League) 76-61 in Liberty League action from Clark Gym Friday evening. RIT's 11-1 record is the best 12-game start in program history.

RIT shot 42.4 percent from the floor on 25-of-59 shooting. The Tigers went 7-of-18 from behind the arc, and made 17-of-18 from the foul line. Jessica Glaz (Rockaway Beach, NY/Scholars Academy) led RIT with a season-high total of 25 points and 10 rebounds. Tara Lynch (Green Township, NJ/Newton) tallied 17 points, while Cori Okada (Fullerton, CA/Troy) chipped in 10 points, four assists and four rebounds.

Kelly Donnelly led Skidmore with 16 points and seven rebounds. Tyler Ong tallied 11 points off the bench, while Veronica Moceri chipped in 10 points for the Thoroughbred,s who shot 41.7 percent from the floor.

The Tigers led 21-7 after the first quarter, shooting 53.3 percent from the floor. Lynch scored seven points to pace RIT. The Tigers maintained their lead, holding a 39-21 edge into halftime. RIT shot 41.6 percent from the floor in the half, led by Glaz's 12 points.

The Tigers outscored Skidmore 20-15 in the third quarter, taking a 59-36 lead into the final 10 minutes. Skidmore tried to rally in the fourth quarter, but the Tigers had built too big a lead. RIT held a 43-29 rebounding edge, including 12 on the offensive glass.

RIT returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 13 when the Tigers host Vassar College at 2 p.m. on the floor of Clark Gym.
