ROCHESTER, NY - Both the RIT men's and women's track and field teams received United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) 2016-17 Division III All-Academic honors. A total of 183 women's and 111 men's institutions earned the distinction as a result of a cumulative team grade-point average of 3.0 or better. The men's team has earned this prestigious honor 10 times in the last 11 years, while the women were selected for the seventh straight season.
California Institute of Technology and Middlebury College tied for the men's lead with cumulative GPAs of 3.62. RIT had a cumulative GPA of 3.267, which was the highest among all Liberty League institutions. Rensselaer and St. Lawrence, joined RIT as recipients from the Liberty League.
The highest cumulative GPA of any team belonged to the women from Saint Vincent College. The Bearcats held down a GPA of 3.727 to edge Mount Holyoke College's 3.72. RIT recorded a strong 3.482 GPA to pace the Liberty League in 2016-17. Rensselaer and St. Lawrence also joined RIT as recipients from the Liberty League.
