ANNANDALE-ON-HUDSON, NY — The RIT (4-0, 1-0 Liberty League) women's basketball team opened Liberty League play Friday with a convincing 84-32 win over Bard College (0-5, 0-1 Liberty League) Friday evening.
RIT shot 47.9 percent from floor on 34-of-71 shooting. The Tigers shot 6-of-21 from behind the arc, and went 10-of-13 from the foul line.
Jessica Glaz (Rockaway Beach, NY/Scholars Academy) and
Tara Lynch (Green Township, NJ/Newton) led a balanced RIT offense with 14 points apiece.
Sabrina Wolfe (Troy, NY/Troy) tallied nine points, while
Amanda Olsen (Glen Mills, PA/Archmere Academy) chipped in seven points. In all, 12 different Tigers scored.
Sydney Frank (Haverford, PA/Friends' Central),
Abby Judd (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland),
Whitney Kent (Hinsdale, NY/Cuba-Rushford) and
Hannah Nack (Auburn, IN/Concordia Lutheran) each tallied six points. Frank led RIT with nine rebounds, while Glaz dished out five assists.
RIT scored the first 11 points of the first quarter, shooting 71.4 percent from the floor.
Jessica Glaz (Rockaway Beach, NY/Scholars Academy) and
Sabrina Wolfe (Troy, NY/Troy) each scored six points in the quarter, while
Cori Okada (Fullerton, CA/Troy) added five points and as RIT led 27-5 at the break.
The Tigers cooled off a bit in the second quarter, tallying 17 points in the quarter. RIT shot 48.3 percent from the floor in the first half on 16-of-33 shooting. Nine different Tigers scored in the first half led by
Jessica Glaz (Rockaway Beach, NY/Scholars Academy) and her nine points.
Tara Lynch (Green Township, NJ/Newton) tallied eight points, while
Sabrina Wolfe (Troy, NY/Troy) and
Whitney Kent (Hinsdale, NY/Cuba-Rushford) each scored six points. Glaz dished out four assists, and
Sydney Frank (Haverford, PA/Friends' Central) grabbed seven rebounds.
RIT outscored the Raptors 30-8 in the third quarter to lead 74-27 after three quarters of play. The Tigers closed out the game tallying 10 points in the fourth quarter. RIT shot 47.3 percent from the floor in the second half on 18-of-38 shooting.
RIT held a 50-25 rebounding advantage, and forced the Raptors into 22 turnovers.
The Tigers return to action on Saturday when they face Union College at 2 p.m. in Schenectady, N.Y.
