ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (3-0) women's basketball team defeated The College at Brockport (2-1) 82-54 in non-conference action from Clark Gymnasium on Tuesday evening. Three Tigers scored in double figures, led by freshman
Sabrina Wolfe (Troy, NY/Troy), who tallied 19 points.
RIT shot 44.1 percent from the floor on 30-of-68 shooting. The Tigers made 14-of-31 from behind the arc, and went 9-of-12 from the foul line. Wolfe shot 6-of-10 from floor, including 5-of-7 from 3-point land. She added eight rebounds, five steals and four assists.
Tara Lynch (Green Township, NJ/Newton) tallied 14 points and had five rebounds, while
Cori Okada (Fullerton, CA/Troy) chipped in 13 points, 10 assists, seven rebounds and a steal.
Amanda Olsen (Glen Mills, PA/Archmere Academy) tallied nine points, while
Sydney Frank (Haverford, PA/Friends' Central) scored four points, grabbed nine rebounds, and had a team-high seven steals.
Freshmen
Sarah Henretta (Fairport, NY/Fairport) and
Nicole Desimone (Rochester, NY/Greece Odyssey) each tallied their first collegiate points in the fourth quarter.
Bailey Pratt led Brockport with 11 points, while Zaria McCullough added nine points. Lindsay Johnson led the Golden Eagles with eight rebounds. Brockport 35.5 percent from the floor on 22-of-62 shooting.
RIT led 19-10 after the first quarter. Tied 6-6 midway through the quarter, RIT went on a 13-2 run en route to an eventual 19-10 lead. The Tigers kept the momentum going in the second quarter, outscoring Brockport 18-7 to lead 37-17 at the break. Okada, Wolfe and Lynch each scored eight points, while Glaz tallied nine to pace RIT.
The Tigers extended its lead in the third quarter, tallying 26 points. Brockport cut the lead to 41-25, but the Tigers went on a 20-4 run to take a 32-point lead late in the quarter, putting the game away.
RIT added 19 fourth-quarter points to go on to the 28-point win. RIT has now won all three games this season by an average of 28 points per game.
RIT returns to action on Friday, Dec. 1 when the defending Liberty League Champion Tigers begin conference play at Bard College. Tip-off in Annandale-on-Hudson, N.Y. is 6 p.m.
