SWARTHMORE, PA -- The RIT (2-0) women's basketball team opened the game on a 29-2 run and never looked back en route to a 69-37 win at Swarthmore College (1-2) on day two of the Swarthmore Tip-Off Classic Saturday. Twelve different Tigers scored in a balanced scoring attack.
RIT shot 41.4 percent from the floor on 29-of-70 shooting. The Tigers went 5-of-21 from behind the arc, and made 6-of-8 free throws.
Amanda Olsen (Glen Mills, PA/Archmere Academy) led RIT with 14 points on 7-of-11 shooting. She also led the Tigers with eight rebounds. Sabrina Wolfe tallied 11 points, grabbed six rebounds, had three steals and two assists.
Cori Okada (Fullerton, CA/Troy) scored nine points, had four assists and four rebounds,while
Jessica Glaz (Rockaway Beach, NY/Scholars Academy) scored eight points.
Abigail Pisson led Swarthmore with nine points, while Audra Woddside tallied eight points for The Garnet who shot 27.3 percent from the floor.
RIT came out firing in the first quarter, outscoring The Garnet 20-2. The Tigers went 9-of-16 from the field in the quarter. RIT would score the first nine points of the second quarter to take a 29-2 lead en route to a 36-15 edge at the half. Glaz and Olsen led RIT with eight points apiece in the first half.
The Tigers came out strong in the third quarter, scoring 20 points. RIT made 10-of-21 field goals in the third, while holding Swarthmore to eight points. The Tigers tallied 13 points in the fourth quarter for the 32-point win.
RIT returns to action on Tuesday, Nov. 21 when the Tigers host The College at Brockport at 6 p.m. on the floor of Clark Gym.
