SWARTHMORE, PA -- The RIT (1-0) women's basketball team began the 2017-18 campaign with a convincing 68-44 win over Stevenson University (0-1) in the opening game of the Swarthmore Tip-Off Tournament Friday evening. The Tigers featured four players in double-figures.

Jessica Glaz (Rockaway Beach, NY/Scholars Academy) and freshman Sabrina Wolfe led RIT with 15 points apiece. Tara Lynch (Green Township, NJ/Newton) and Amanda Olsen (Glen Mills, PA/Archmere Academy) each scored 12 points for the Tigers who shot 41.5 percent from floor. RIT needed to make just three 3-pointers, but went 21-of-29 from the foul line. Wolfe and Olsen each had double-doubles, grabbing 10 rebounds apiece. The Tigers defense forced the Mustangs into 21 turnovers. Cori Okada (Fullerton, CA/Troy) added four assists and five rebounds.

"We had a strong defensive game against an athletic, quick team," said RIT head coach Amy Reed. "It took us a little while to get into an offensive flow, but we found our stride in the second half. Overall, I am very happy with our performance."

Denia Campbell led Stevenson with 10 points, while Olivia Coleman and Brandi Hall each scored 10 points for the Mustangs who shot 32.8 percent from the floor. Coleman led Stevenson with six rebounds.

RIT led 18-11 after the first quarter, and 31-23 at the half. The Tigers shot just 36.3-percent from the floor in the first half on 11-of-30 shooting. Lynch led the Tigers with 10 first-half points, while Olsen and Wolfe each had six rebounds.
