ALFRED, NY -- The RIT (2-1) women's swimming and diving team defeated Alfred University by a score of 222-75 in non-conference action Saturday afternoon.
In relay action, the team of
Brenna Woodling (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East),
Amy Adams (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy),
Olivia Phillips (Louisville, CO/Fairview) and
Daylen Smith (Lockwood, NY/Waverly) opened the meet with a first place finish in the 200-yard medley relay, finishing in a time of 1:55.34. The team of
Eleanor O'Gorman (Yarmouth, ME/Yarmouth), Katie Mayer,
Megan Hawkes (Franklinville, NJ/Gloucester County) and
Rachel Charette (Westfield, MA/Westfield) were second in the event in a time of 1:59.06.
The Tigers swept the top three places in the 200-yard freestyle.
Sedera Zbranak (Austin, TX/Lake Travis) won the event in a time of 2:05.17. Smith was second (2:07.50), and O'Gorman was third (2:07.77). Zbranak (55.90) and Smith (57.28) placed first and second in the 100-yard freestyle.
Emily Lederman (Morgantown, WV/Morgantown) won the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.56), and was first in the 500-yard freestyle (5:36.65).
Adams won a pair of individual events, taking the 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.50), and 200-yard breaststroke (2:36.51). Other winners included Phillips in the 200-yard butterfly, and O'Gorman in the 200-yard backstroke.
Adeline Maykish (Caldwell, NJ/Caldwell) won the 1,000-yard freestyle in a time of 11:41.80.
In diving action,
Alaiya Tuntemeke (Livonia, NY/Livonia) won the 1-meter competition with a score of 210.80.
Patsy Hayes (San Jose, CA/Abraham Lincoln) was second (198.15) and
Jessica Kaups (Shaker Heights, OH/Shaker Heights) was third (179.90) to earn the Tigers 16 points. Tuntemeke (233.65) and Hayes (224.05) were one-two in the 3-meter competition.
The team of Mayer, Adams, Zbranak and Smith placed first in the 200-yard freestyle relay, finishing in a time of 1:44.35. The team of
Rachel Charette (Westfield, MA/Westfield),
Sarah Evans (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna), Lederman and
Grace Morales (South Riding, VA/Freedom) were second in the event in a time of 1:46.77.
The Tigers are back in action next Saturday, Oct. 28 as they host Fredonia State from Judson Pool at 1 p.m. It is RIT's Tiger Den Event.
