ALFRED, NY -- The RIT men's swimming and diving team (1-2) rallied in the final event to defeat beat Alfred University 153-147 Saturday afternoon in non-league action. It was RIT's first win of the 2017-18 season.
Down heading into the last event, the team of The team of
Nicholas Genovese (Lincoln, MA/Lincoln-Sudbury),
Eric Moss (Irvington, NY/Irvington),
Jason Cook (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) and
Braden Feasley (Hamburg, NY/Hamburg)Â clinched with win with a first place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The came home first in a time of 1:29.62. The team of
Tomer Artzi (Framingham, MA/Framingham),
Tyler Allen (Newark, NY/Newark), Mark Trusinovsky and
Zachary Ward (Kennett Square, PA/Unionville) were third in a time of 1:32.46 to earn the winning points.
RIT began the meet with a second place finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Genovese,
Carl Schlehr (Maineville, OH/Kings),
Justin Morris (Holliston, MA/Advanced Math and Science Academy Charter School) and Cook placed second in the event in a time of 1:40.60.Â
Joe Wang (Framingham, MA/Framingham) (10:43.47), Feasley (10:58.37) and Jimmy Antonelli (11:01.26) were second, third and fourth in the 1,000-yard freestyle.
John Stelmack (Toccoa, GA/Stephens County) won the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 1:02.73, and the 200-yard breaststroke in a time of 2:20.26. Cook took home first place in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.03, and Feasley won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 50.78
In diving action, RIT picked up points in the 1-meter competition, taking home the top three spots.
Ben Hamilton (Addison, NY/Addison) won the event with a scoer of 261.75, while
Alex Dieroff (Syracuse, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) was second with a score of 209.15.
Chase Van Duyne (Auburn, NY/Auburn) was third with a score of 203.35. Dieroff won the 3-meter competition with a score of 270.75, while Hamilton was second with a score of 240.15. Van Duyne came home third with a score of 173.00.
RIT returns to action on Saturday, Oct. 28 when the Tigers host SUNY Fredonia at 1 p.m. at Judson Pool.
