ROCHESTER, NY- The RIT women's volleyball team (12-13) fell to SUNY Geneseo (17-8) Saturday morning at Clark Gym in three sets then rallied to defeat beat Springfield College (14-7) in five sets during day two of the 29th annual RIT Invitational.
Sara Taylor (Tonawanda, NY/Kenmore East) was named to the All-Tournament Team.

In the opener, RIT fell to Geneseo, 25-20, 25-14, 25-19. The first set started with back and forth action between the two squads. With two kills from Taylor and a service ace from
Erin Parkinson (Carrollton, TX/W.T. White) the Tigers were able to take a 15-12 lead. Two attack errors committed by RIT would allow Geneseo to pull ahead and keep the lead for the rest of the first set.

The Knights dominated with fifteen kills to take set two, 25-14. RIT started off with a 10-7 lead over Geneseo in set three, until the Knights went on a 7-0 run to pull ahead 15-10. Geneseo kept the lead the rest of the set winning 25-19 and sweep the match

Taylor led the team with 12 kills and Parkinson had a total of 24 assists and a hitting percentage of .400.
Maria Simonetti (Rochester, NY/Our Lady of Mercy) and
Kirstie Wehler (Saint Marys, PA/Elk County Catholic) led RIT with seven digs each.

Grace Gergol led the Knights with ten kills and thirteen digs. Bridget Lougen had seven kills and a hitting percentage of .357. Emily Ast was the lead passer for Geneseo totaling 30 assists for the match.

In the final match of the weekend, Springfield won the first two sets, 25-19 and 25-22, before RIT roared back to take the next three, 25-21, 25-21, 15-13. Taylor led the team with a career-high 24 kills, Kristie Wehler and
Kathryn Vogl (West Seneca, NY/St. Mary's) both had 12 kills.
Shelby Doheny (Moreau, NY/South Glens Falls) had a hitting percentage of .316. Parkinson had 50 assists on the night. Simonetti led the team with three service aces.

For Springfield Jen Donnelly led the team with 13 kills. Kayle Cimino had ten kills, a hitting percentage of .692 and led the team with 32 assists. Cimino and Daniela Detore both had three service aces.Â
The Tigers are back in action Wednesday with a crucial Liberty League home contest versus Ithaca that starts at 6 p.m.
