PITTSFORD, NY -- The RIT (8-2) women's swimming and diving team closed out the regular season in style with a 174-123 win over Nazareth College (5-4) Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers opened the meet with a win in the 200-meter relay. The team of
Sedera Zbranak (Austin, TX/Lake Travis),
Amy Adams (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy),
Genevieve Senecal (Westfield, MA/Westfield) and
Daylen Smith (Lockwood, NY/Waverly) won the event in a time of 2:03.21. The team of
Brenna Woodling (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East),
Megan O'Connor (Spring City, PA/Owen J. Roberts),
Megan Hawkes (Franklinville, NJ/Gloucester County) and
Sarah Evans (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) placed third in a time of 2:11.54.
Zbranak,
Emily Lederman (Morgantown, WV/Morgantown) and
Rachel Kobel (Bergen, NY/Byron-Bergen) placed 1-2-4 in the 200-meter freestyle. Zbranak was first in a time of 2:11.97, while Lederman came home second in a time of 2:17.70. Kobel finished in a time of 2:21.37.
Woodling (1:10.61) and O'Gorman (1:11.73) were 1-2 in the 100-meter backstroke. Adams won the 100-meter breaststroke in a time of 1:17.52, while Senecal (2:29.95) and
Olivia Phillips (Louisville, CO/Fairview) (2:31.75) were 1-2 in the 200-meter butterfly.
Smith won the 50-meter freestyle in a tim of 28.90, while Lederman won the 100-meter freestyle in a time of 1:02.49. Zbranak won her second event of the meet with a win in the 200-meter backstroke, winning in a time of 2:27.46.
Senecal and Phillips went 1-2 in the 100-meter butterfly. Senecal won the event in a time of 1:08.34, while Phillips was second in a time of 1:09.95. Lederman picked up her second win with a first place finish in the 200-meter IM, finishing in a time of 2:35.59.
In diving,
Alaiya Tuntemeke (Livonia, NY/Livonia) played second in the 3-meter diving (219.60) and third in the 1-meter event (206.95).
Amanda Drake (Endicott, NY/Maine Endwell) placed third in the 3-meter (193.15) and second in the 1-meter (216.35).
RIT is off until competition begins in the UNYSCSA Championships from Feb. 15-18 at Ithaca College.
