ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (6-1) women's swimming and diving team began the 2017 calendar year with a convincing 186-109 win over Hamilton College (0-3) from Judson Pool Saturday afternoon. Prior to the meet, RIT honored the class of 2017 as they swam in their final regular season meet at Judson Pool.
RIT began the meet with 1-2 finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of
Brenna Woodling (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East),
Amy Adams (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy),
Genevieve Senecal (Westfield, MA/Westfield) and
Daylen Smith (Lockwood, NY/Waverly) placed first in a time of 1:52.86. They were followed by the team of
Eleanor O'Gorman (Yarmouth, ME/Yarmouth),
Megan O'Connor (Spring City, PA/Owen J. Roberts), Katie Ward and Katie Mayer, who were second in a time of 1:56.89.
Sedera Zbranak (Austin, TX/Lake Travis) was one of three top-five finishers for RIT in the 200-yard freestyle. She won the event in a time of 1:57.82.
Rachel Kobel (Bergen, NY/Byron-Bergen) was third (2:03.18), and Smith came home fifth in a time of 2:06.51. Zbranak also won the 100-yard freestyle in a time of 54.82, and the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:00.07.
Emily Lederman (Morgantown, WV/Morgantown), Woodling and O'Gorman finished 1-2-3 in the 100-yard backstroke. Lederman won the event in a time of 1:01.86, while Woodling was second (1:02.62) and O'Gorman placed third (1:03.41). Adams (1:07.91), O'Connor (1:10.78) and Mayer (1:12.64) took the top-3 places in the 100-yard breaststroke.
Lederman (2:13.93), Woodling (2:15.98) and O'Gorman (2:18.81) swept the top-3 places in the 200-yard breaststroke. Adams (2:32.68), O'Connor (2:36.27) and Kobel (2:40.24) went 1-2-3 in the 200-yard breaststroke.
Senecal took home first place in the 200-yard butterfly in a time of 2:14.29.
Olivia Phillips (Louisville, CO/Fairview) was third in a time of 2:20.09. O'Gorman (26.17), Smith (26.40) and Mayer (26.53) went 1-2-3 in the 50-yard freestyle.
In diving action
Amanda Drake (Endicott, NY/Maine Endwell) won the 1-meter competition with a score of 202.55, and
Alaiya Tuntemeke (Livonia, NY/Livonia) was third with a score of 190.35. Tuntemeke won the 3-meter competition with a score of 192.79, and Drake was second with a score of 188.20.
Before the meet, the Tigers honored Drake, Kobel, O'Connor, and Senecal.
RIT returns to action on Wednesday, Jan. 18 when the women face William Smith at 7 p.m. in Geneva, N.Y.
