The Tigers come into the weekend 1-1-0 overall after opening the season with a pair of games at the Doug May Memorial Tournament last weekend. RIT defeated Buffalo State, 1-0 last Friday, and fell to SUNY Morrisville, 1-0 on Saturday.
Sophomore
Adam Bem (Manlius, NY/Fayetteville-Manlius) scored in the first minute versus Buffalo State off assists from
Gene Sicoli (Commack, NY/Commack) and
Anthony DeFeo (Rochester, NY /Hilton).
Peter Cinibulk (Bellbrook, OH/Bellbrook) and the RIT defense held on for their first clean sheet of the season. Cinibulk finished with five.
SUNY Morrisville scored in the second minute on Saturday, and held on for the 1-0 win. The Tigers generated some good scoring chances in the second half, and came very close to tying the game up in the 80th minute, when Sicoli nearly scored, with an open shot from 20-yards out going just over the crossbar, after a couple great passes to get him open.
King's College comes into the weekend 0-2-0 after a pair of tough losses last weekend at the Monarch/Royal Classic in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. The Monarch's lost 2-1 in overtime to Cabrini University on Saturday, and fell 3-1 to Gettysburg on Sunday. Â
SUNY Potsdam is 2-0-1 with wins over Salve Regina and SUNY Canton. Mount Saint Mary College is 1-2-0, including a 7-1 win over Culinary Institute of America to open the season.
RIT is 1-0 all-time versus King's, defeating the Monarchs, 2-0 in last year's Doug May Tournament. DeFeo and
Dean Kouroupas (Ridgefield, CT/Ridgefield) scored for the Tigers. RIT is 6-5-0 all-time versus the Bears, not having played since 2006. RIT could face Mount Saint Mary College for the first time in program history.
