ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT women's tennis team (4-11) returned home to the Gordon Field House, dropping an 8-1 decision to Rochester (6-6) on Tuesday afternoon.
The team of
Brianna Dimisko (Hyde Park, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) and
Alyssa Hering (Albion, NY/Kendall) picked up RIT's lone victory, at third doubles. They led the whole way, defeating Rochester's Darby McCall and Grace Digiovanni 8-4. The Yellow Jackets took the first two doubles matches to build the 2-1 lead.
Rochester, ranked 17th in the Northeast region, won all six singles matches to clinch the victory. The most dramatic match came at the top spot.
Amelia Ying (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) took the first set, 7-5 against Christine Ho and had a 4-2 lead in the second set, before Ho roared back. Ho took the second set, 6-4, before prevailing in the tiebreak, 10-5.
Marie Jubert (Fairport, NY/Fairport) took six games in her match at third singles against Alex Wolkoff, falling in straight sets, 7-5, 6-1.
The Tigers will travel a short distance, taking on Division II Roberts Wesleyan on Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m..
