GENEVA, NY – The RIT women's tennis team (2-5, 0-3 Liberty League) dropped a Liberty League road contest to William Smith (2-2, 1-1 Liberty League), 9-0 at the Bristol Field House on Saturday afternoon.
The Tigers were swept in doubles play to begin the contest. In singles play, Brianna Dimisko (Hyde Park, NY/Our Lady of Lourdes) took seven points, falling to Connie Froass in straight sets, 6-3, 6-4. At fifth and sixth singles, RIT had two tight matches to avoid the shutout. Alyssa Hering (Albion, NY/Kendall) took the first set in her match against Sydney Ferry at fifth singles, before falling in a hotly contested second set. In the third and final set, Ferry eventually pulled away, winning 4-6, 7-6 (5), 10-7.
In the final match of the afternoon, Kelsie Redburn (Byram, NJ/Pope John XXIII) dropped the first set to Alex Cattie, before rebounding to grab the second set, 6-3. The final set was a back and forth affair, where Redburn coming up just short, in a 6-3, 3-6, 12-10 loss.
The Tigers will continue play tomorrow in Geneva when they take on Ithaca College in a non-conference matchup.
