ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (3-1) women's swimming and diving team defeated St. Lawrence University (2-1), 180-109 in Liberty League action from Judson Pool on Saturday afternoon.
RIT began the meet with a one-two finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of
Brenna Woodling (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East),
Amy Adams (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy),
Genevieve Senecal (Westfield, MA/Westfield) and
Daylen Smith (Lockwood, NY/Waverly) placed first in a time of 1:53.33, while the team of
Emily Lederman (Morgantown, WV/Morgantown),
Megan O'Connor (Spring City, PA/Owen J. Roberts),
Lauren Perttula (Idaho Falls, ID/Idaho Falls) and
Sarah Evans (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) came home second with a time of 1:56.14.
Sedera Zbranak (Austin, TX/Lake Travis) was one of three point-earners for RIT in the 200-yd. freestyle. She won the event in a time of 2:01.80.
Grace Morales (South Riding, VA/Freedom) was fourth, while
Sarah Evans (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) placed fifth, earning a point for the Tigers. Woodling, Lederman and
Olivia Phillips (Louisville, CO/Fairview) went 1-2-3 in the 100 -yard backstroke. Woodling won the event in a time of 1:02.87, while Lederman was second (1:02.96) and Phillips was third (1:05.48).
RIT swept the top four spots in the 100-yard breaststroke. Adams won the event (1:08.79), while Katie Mayer was second (1:13.67).
Megan O'Connor (Spring City, PA/Owen J. Roberts) was third (1:13.73) and
Maria Echavarria (Bogota, Colombia/Colegio Neuva Granda) was fourth (1:21.28). Senecal won the 200 -yard butterfly, winning in a time of 2:16.32.
Olivia Phillips (Louisville, CO/Fairview) was third in a time of 2:23.64.
In diving, the Tigers swept the top three spots in the 1-meter event. Alaiya Tuntemeke won the event with a score of 195.10.
Amanda Drake (Endicott, NY/Maine Endwell) was second with a score of 168.15, and
Patsy Hayes (San Jose, CA/Abraham Lincoln) was third with a score of 166.50. In the 3-meter, Tuntemeke won the event with a score of 183.15, Hayes was second (176.75) and
Amanda Drake (Endicott, NY/Maine Endwell) was third with a score of 171.90.
Zbranak won her second individual event of the meet when she took home first place in the 100 -yard freestyle, winning in a time of 56.05. Woodling (2:16.00), Lederman (2:18.01) and Phillips (2:20.79) swept the top three places in the 200-yard backstroke. Adams and O'connor swept the top two spots in the 200 -yard breaststroke, earning 13 points for the Tigers. Perttula and Zbranak went 1-2 in the 100 -yard butterfly.
RIT returns to action on Saturday, Nov. 12 with a meet at LeMoyne College in Syracuse, N.Y. The meet begins at 1 p.m.
