ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT women's swimming and diving team (5-1) extended its winning streak to four consecutive meets, rolling to a 215-71 victory over visiting Alfred University (2-4) at the Judson Pool on Saturday afternoon.
RIT dominated from the start, winning the opening relay before 11 different student-athletes won 13 different events.
Olivia Phillips (Louisville, CO/Fairview) and
Amy Adams (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) won a pair of individual events each.
Phillips won the 200-yard freestyle by five seconds in 2:05.20 over teammate
Sarah Evans (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna). Phillips also took the 500-free by just over a second over
Adeline Maykish (Caldwell, NJ/Caldwell) in 5:34.62.
Adams led a 1-2-3 finish in the 200-breaststoke winning by seven seconds in 2:33.51.
Megan O'Connor (Spring City, PA/Owen J. Roberts) was second and Katie Mayer was third. The same three were 1-2-3 in the same order in the 100-breaststroke, as Adams won by four seconds in 1:08.46.
Emily Lederman (Morgantown, WV/Morgantown) defeated
Brenna Woodling (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East) by four one-hundredths of a second in a tight 100-yard backstroke finish. Lederman had a time of 1:03.39.
Genevieve Senecal (Westfield, MA/Westfield) won the 200-fly by 10 seconds in 2:17.35.
Daylen Smith (Lockwood, NY/Waverly) and
Eleanor O'Gorman (Yarmouth, ME/Yarmouth) went 1-2 in the 50-free, as Smith won in 26.25 seconds. O'Gorman defeated Woodling by just under two seconds in the 200-backstroke in 2:16.54.
Maykish led a 1-2-3 finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle, defeating teammate
Sydney Kraeger (Henrietta, NY/Rush-Henrietta) by 40 seconds in 11:32.60.
Grace Morales (South Riding, VA/Freedom) was third.
Lauren Perttula (Idaho Falls, ID/Idaho Falls) won the 100-fly over Senecal in 1:00.70.
Woodling, Adams, Senecal, and Smith opened the day by taking the 200-yard medley relay in 1:54.09.
In diving,
Alaiya Tuntemeke (Livonia, NY/Livonia) took the 1-meter diving with a score of 191.25, while teammates
Patsy Hayes (San Jose, CA/Abraham Lincoln) and
Amanda Drake (Endicott, NY/Maine Endwell) were second and third. Hayes took the 3-meter event over Tuntemeke and Drake with a score of 187.05.
The Tigers are off until they host the 2016 Liberty League Championship, which will take place on Friday and Saturday, Dec. 2-3 from the Judson Pool and Webster Aquatic Center.
