ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT men's hockey team returns to action this weekend with a home-and-home series against Atlantic Hockey foe Canisius College. Friday's game from HARBORCENTER in Buffalo is at 7:35 p.m., while Saturday's contest from the Gene Polisseni Center is at 7:05 p.m.

RIT (3-3-1, 3-1-0 Atlantic Hockey) enters the weekend having won two straight games. Last weekend, the Tigers earned a sweep at league foe Bentley, winning 4-1 on Friday and 6-3 Saturday.
Chase Norrish (Strongfield, Saskatchewan/Yorkton Terriers),
Adam Brubacher (Elmira, Ontario/Powell River Kings),
Gabe Valenzuela (Brampton, Ontario/North York Rangers), and
Erik Brown (Keene, Ontario/Kemptville 73's) scored in Friday's win, while
Mike Rotolo (Rochester, NY/Cedar Rapids Roughriders) made 21 saves. On Saturday, Brown had a career-high four points on two goals and two assists, while
Myles Powell (Courtenay, British Columbia/Cowichan Valley Capitals) added a pair of shorthanded goals, and Valenzuela and
Liam Kerins (Caledon, Ontario/North York Rangers) also scored. Rotolo made 23 saves.
On Saturday, Powell became RIT's first player to score two shorthanded goals in a game since the team moved to Division I in 2005.
Brown was named the Atlantic Hockey Offensive Player of the Week, while
Brady Norrish (Strongfield, Saskatchewan/Yorkton Terriers) earned Defensive Player of the Week honors. Brown tallied five points on three goals and two assists overall, spurred on by a career-high four-point effort in Saturday's win. Norrish dished out four assists, blocked three shots, and was plus-3 in the sweep. Brown leads the team in scoring with six goals and 10 points, while Norrish has a team-high eight assists.
Six players are averaging at least a point per game for the Tigers. RIT is averaging nearly four goals per game, 13th best in all of Division I.
Canisius enters the weekend with a 2-5-1 record, 1-0-1 in Atlantic Hockey play. Last weekend, the Golden Griffins dropped a pair of games at Penn State, falling by scores of 4-1 and 4-2. Felix Chamberland and Ryan Schmelzer lead the team in scoring with five points apiece. Chamberland has three goals and two assists, while Schmelzer has two goals and three assists. In net, Charles Williams has played in five games, with a 2-2-1 record, 2.75 goals against average and a .924 save percentage.
RIT leads the all-time series between the two schools, 60-20-2, including a 21-10-1 edge since the Tigers moved to Division I in 2005. The two teams split a pair of meetings last season from the Gene Polisseni Center.
Saturday's game will be aired live on Time Warner Cable Sports-98 in Rochester, with Gene Battaglia and John DiTullio on the call from the Polisseni Center.
