ROCHESTER, NY -- The RIT (1-0) women's swimming and diving team opened the 2016-17 season in fine fashion with a 163-75 win over Oswego State (0-1) at Judson Pool Wednesday evening. The Tigers won each of the first 11 events.
In relay action, the Tigers opened the meet with one-two finish in the 200-yard medley relay. The team of
Sedera Zbranak (Austin, TX/Lake Travis),
Amy Adams (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy),
Genevieve Senecal (Westfield, MA/Westfield) and
Daylen Smith (Lockwood, NY/Waverly) placed first in a time of 1:52.36. The team of
Olivia Phillips (Louisville, CO/Fairview), Katie Mayer,
Lauren Perttula (Idaho Falls, ID/Idaho Falls) and
Sarah Evans (Niskayuna, NY/Niskayuna) came home second in a time of 1:57.90.
In the 1,000-yard freestyle, Addy Maykish won the event, finishing in a time of 11:39.63. She also took the 500-free in 5:42.98.
Phillips,
Brenna Woodling (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East) and
Grace Morales (South Riding, VA/Freedom) went one-two-three in the 200-yard frestyle, and Smith won the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 26.28.Â
Emily Lederman (Morgantown, WV/Morgantown), Adams and
Rachel Kobel (Bergen, NY/Byron-Bergen) swept the top three spots in the 200-yard individual medley.Â
Senecal annexed the 100-yard butterfly in a time of 1:00.33. while Zbranak (56.52) and Smith (57.24) placed first and second in the 100-freestyle. Woodling, Lederman, and Phillips swept the top-three spots in the 100-yard backstroke.
In diving, RIT swept the top three spots in the one-meter event. Alaiya Tuntemeke won the event with a score of 192.70.
Patsy Hayes (San Jose, CA/Abraham Lincoln) was second with a score of 168.43, and
Amanda Drake (Endicott, NY/Maine Endwell) was third with a score of 167.25. In three-meter, Hayes finished first with a score of 185.30. Tuntemeke was second with a score of 181.75, and
Megan Smith (Monroe, CT/Masuk) was third with a score of 166.70.
RIT returns to action on Saturday, October 22 when the Tigers open Liberty League action at Rensselaer at 1 p.m.
