WILLIAMSPORT, PA - The RIT wrestling team (1-8) dropped three matches at the 2016 Budd Whitehill National Duals Friday at Lamade Gym on the campus of Lycoming College. The Tigers fell to No. 14 The College of New Jersey (8-0) by a score of 38-6 on Friday morning and 29-13 to Wesleyan University (2-0) on Friday afternoon, before ending the day with a 34-15 loss to Thiel (5-7) in the "D" bracket.

Sam Weinger (Blooming Grove, NY/Washingtonville) won all three of his matches on the day at 285 lbs. to improve to 21-5 on the season and 9-0 in dual meets. Jake Sepor (Stafford, NY/Pavilion) picked up a pair of wins at 141 lbs., giving him 13 on the year.

In the opener against The College of New Jersey, RIT was in danger of being shutout before Weinger broke a 4-4 tie late in the bout by earning a pin in the final seconds over Kyle Cocozza. Weinger improved to 19-5 on the season with the win and remains undefeated in dual meets with a 7-0 mark.

Against Wesleyan, RIT found themselves down 7-0 before Jake Sepor (Stafford, NY/Pavilion) rolled to a 10-1 major decision over Shane Ross, 10-1 to cut the Cardinals lead to 7-4. It was Sepor's 12th win of the season at 141 lbs. At 165 lbs., Joe Cutugno (Ventnor, NJ/Atlantic City) earned his third win of the season, a 6-2 decision over Keonmin Hwang. Weinger would earn his 20th win of the season in the easiest way, via forfeit.

Sepor would earn a win at 141 lbs., a 6-2 decision over Robert Ritschard of Thiel. Weinger would garner his second pin of the day, this time in 5:57 over Tyler Hendzel, while Mackenzie Callahan recorded a victory at 184 lbs. via forfeit.

RIT will conclude action at the Budd Whitehill Duals on Saturday against Trine University at 9 a.m. and either Ohio Northern or King's College at 12 p.m.
