CORTLAND, NY – The RIT wrestling team (3-10) dropped two dual bouts, dropping a close match to Niagara C.C.C. (5-3) 28-27, before falling to No. 7 SUNY Cortland (9-2) 37-7, in pair of matches at Cortland on Sunday afternoon.
 
The Tigers started the afternoon with two quick victories by forfeit against the Thunderwolves, as Andrew Flanigan and Cortez Harris (Milwaukee, WI/Rufus King) picked up those wins at 125 and 133 pounds respectively. The winning continued, as Jake Sepor (Stafford, NY/Pavilion) picked up a sudden victory at 141 pounds, and Dempsey King (New Hartford, NY/New Hartford) pinned Chris Rivera at 2:10 to give RIT a commanding 22-0 lead.
 
Niagara C.C.C. got its first points at 157 pounds, as Zach Colgan pinned Kirkland Feeney (Lockport, NY/Lockport) at 2:23. RIT then picked up another pin, as Joe Cutugno (Ventnor, NJ/Atlantic City) won his seventh match of the season at 165 lbs. over Norah Jones at 4:47. Alex Kelly picked up a key four points for the Thunderwolves, getting a major decision over John Donohue (Smithtown, NY/Hauppauge), at 19-10, before winning at 187, 194, and 285 due to forfeits for the comeback victory.
 
In game two, Cortland, the seventh ranked team in all of Division III, jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead. At 141 pounds, Sepor got the Tigers on the board, defeating Matt Norris 3-2. King then took 10th ranked Austin Whitney to the limit, as Whitney won a sudden victory decision at 149 pounds. Whitney recorded a takedown late in the third period to force overtime, then recorded another for the win.
 
RIT got another big win, as Feeney recorded a 13-0 major decision over Adrian Berry at 157 pounds, bringing the match to as close as four, at 11-7. From there, Cortland took over, as Colin Barber defeated Cutugno 3-1 by a sudden victory at 165 pounds.
 
The Tigers will take on The College at Brockport in a road dual meet, Wednesday at 7 p.m.
