ROCHESTER, NY - The RIT women's crew team was honored by the Liberty League on Monday, April 13, as the Varsity 8 boat was named the conference's boat of the week. It is the first weekly honor for RIT crew this season.
The RIT varsity 8 won a pair of races over the weekend. On Saturday, the line-up of
Erin Loughran (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy),
Arielle Weinstein (Athens, NY/Coxsackie-Athens),
Sarah Foggett (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder),
Brittany Dzugas-Smith (West Babylon, NY/Landmark),
Taylor Blackwell (Pittsford, NY/Pittsford Sutherland),
Cassandra Killion (New Plymouth, ID/Nampa Christian),
Phoebe Hurd (Raymond, ME/Windham),
Lindsey Schwartz (Rochester, NY/Gates-Chili), and
Laura Alderfer (Sellersville, PA/Pennridge ), completed the 2,000 meter course in 8:19.77. Hamilton posted the fastest time of the day with a time of 8:03.67, while William Smith rounded out the field in third (8:29.45). On Sunday, that group defeated St. Lawrence by nearly 14 seconds in 7:13.98.
The Tigers return to action next weekend, hosting Union on Saturday, April 18 on the Genesee River.
