GENEVA, NY - The RIT women's swimming and diving team (5-4) rolled to a convincing 144-94 victory over host William Smith College (8-2) at Bristol Pool on Wednesday evening. RIT won eight of the 13 events on the evening.
Kelsey Schaefer (Berea, OH/Berea) was RIT's lone dual winner of the meet, as she emerged victorious in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 25.71 seconds and the 100-free in 56.59 seconds.
Carol Anderson (Silver Spring, MD/Albert Einstein) won the 1,000-yard freestyle by 17 seconds with a time of 11:25.00 over teammate
Grace Morales (South Riding, VA/Freedom), who was the runner-up.
Genevieve Senecal (Westfield, MA/Westfield) took the 200-yard butterfly by just under three seconds in a time of 2:15.73, and earned a second place finish in the 200-yard individual medley.
Brenna Woodling (Williamsville, NY/Williamsville East) took the 200-yard backstroke in a stirring finish over William Smith's Katherine Storch by two one-hundredths of a second in 2:15.41.
Caitlin Foster (Bath, ME/Morse) won the 500-yard freestyle in 5:34.20 and was also second in the 200-free.
Alex Timberlake (Churchville, NY/Churchville-Chili) was second in the 100-free and third in the 50-free.
RIT's 200-yard freestyle relay team of
Jillian Sirkis (Fairless Hills, PA/Pennsbury),
Colleen Manning (Farmingdale, NY/St. Anthony's), Foster, and Schaefer won easily in a time of 1:43.98, but was deemed an exhibition swim.
In diving action,
Sam Huselstein (Olean, NY/Olean) returned from a mid-season injury to take the 1-meter diving with a score of 205.75, while
Amanda Drake (Endicott, NY/Maine Endwell) was second, and
Patsy Hayes (San Jose, CA/Abraham Lincoln), third. In the 3-meter diving, Hayes led a 1-2-3 finish for the Tigers, winning with a score of 200.75. Huselstein was right behind in second, while Drake placed third.
RIT is back in action on Saturday, as they make the quick trek to the University of Rochester for a dual meet that begins at 1 p.m.
