ROCHESTER, NY –
The RIT men's hockey team heads east for a single non-conference contest on at 7 p.m. Saturday at Yale University. RIT head coach Wayne Wilson will go against his son, Yale junior center Stu Wilson.

The younger Wilson helped Yale win the 2013 NCAA Division I NCAA Championship and has 15 goals and 19 assists in 76 career games. It is the first meeting between the two schools. They are the only father-son duo win national championships as players. Wayne Wilson was a senior captain, leading Bowling Green State University to the 1984 NCAA Division I National Championship.

Last weekend, RIT (4-7-2, 3-5-2 AHC) split a home series against league foe Sacred Heart, rolling to a 5-1 win on Friday and falling 2-1 on Saturday. On Friday, captain Matt Garbowsky (St. George, Ontario/Powell River Kings) tied a career-high with four points on two goals and two assists, while Brad McGowan (Langley, British Columbia/Surrey Eagles) equaled a career-best with three points on a goal and two assists. Josh Mitchell (Osoyoos, British Columbia/Alberni Valley Bulldogs) and Danny Smith (Edmonton, Alberta/Sherwood Park Crusaders) also scored. In net, Jordan Ruby (Tavistock, Ontario/Wellington Dukes) made 25 saves. The Tigers scored two shorthanded goals (Smith and McGowan) in that contest for the first time in nearly six years (Dec. 13, 2008 vs. Mercyhurst). On Saturday, RIT allowed two goals in the first 3:20 of the contest and could not complete the comeback. Andrew Miller (Chicago, IL/Chicago Steel) scored RIT's lone goal in the second period, while Ruby made 22 saves. That loss snapped a 10-game unbeaten streak against the Pioneers, dating back to Feb. 6, 2010.

Garbowsky had his 10-game point-scoring streak snapped on Saturday. He recorded 11 goals and seven assists during the streak. Garbowsky now has a point in 11 of 13 games this season. He leads the nation with 11 goals, 19 points, and 208 face-off wins. Josh Mitchell (Osoyoos, British Columbia/Alberni Valley Bulldogs) is tied for the national lead with 13 assists. He has 16 points this season, one shy of his career-high. In net, Ruby has now started RIT's last seven games in goal and overall, is 3-3-2 this season with a 2.10 goals against average and .922 save percentage.

Yale enters Saturday's contest with a 4-2-2 mark and is 3-2-1 in ECAC play. Last weekend, the Bulldogs went 1-1, falling at Cornell on Friday by a score of 3-2, while rebounding to defeat nationally-ranked Colgate, 3-1. Yale is outscoring its opponents, 17-15 this season. John Hayden leads the Bulldogs in scoring with eight points on two goals and six assists. In net, Alex Lyon is 4-2-2 with a 1.87 goals against average and .933 save percentage.
