ROCHESTER, NY -- Four Tigers scored in double figures led by #
Courtney Tennant (Cortland, NY/Cortland)# and her 18 points and 14 rebounds as the RIT women's basketball team (4-4, 1-0 Liberty League) opened up Liberty League play with an impressive 71-52 win over Union College (6-2, 0-1 Liberty League) on Friday evening from Clark Gym.

Maria Edwards (Forrest Hill, MD/The Carroll School)# each had 10 for the Tigers who beat the Dutchwomen for the first time since January 24, 2012.
The Tigers shot 36.2 percent from the floor on 21-of-58 shooting, making just 3-of-16 from behind the arc, and were 26-of-37 from the foul line.
Union held a 54-48 rebounding edge and were led by Kate Thompson and her 12 points and nine rebounds. Madeline Granato added nine points, and Kelsey McDonald added eight.
The Dutchwomen shot 27.4 percent from the floor on 20-of-73 shooting. The Dutchwomen went 4-of-23 from three-point land and were 8-of-14 from the foul line.
RIT never trailed in the first half, leading by as many as 13 points, taking a 28-19 lead into the break. Palmitesso and Tennant led RIT with eight and seven points respectively. RIT held Union to 19 first-half points and 10 turnovers.
The Tigers built their lead to 20 points early in the second half when Palmistesso laid in a bucket off an assist from Edwards giving RIT a 48-28 lead.
Granato's three with 2:57 to play in regulation cut the Tigers lead to 10, but the Dutchwomen would get no close as RIT closed out the final 2:57 on an 11-2 run.
RIT is right back in action on Saturday, traveling to play Hamilton College at 2 p.m. in Clinton, New York.
