Men's hockey continues home stand with pair of contests against Holy Cross this weekend

ROCHESTER, NY –
The RIT men's hockey team continues its seven-game home stand with a pair of contests against Atlantic Hockey Association rival The College of Holy Cross at 7:05 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
 
Park Point at RIT and The Province, along with At Home Builders are Friday's game sponsors, while Subway and Advantage Federal Credit Union will sponsor Saturday's contest.
 
RIT heads into the two-game series eighth in the AHA standings after dropping a pair of games against Niagara last weekend.  Brad McGowan (Langley, British Columbia/Surrey Eagles) will play in his 100th collegiate game on Friday. Eight players have at least a dozen points this season for the Tigers. In goal, Jordan Ruby (Tavistock, Ontario/Wellington Dukes) and Mike Rotolo (Rochester, NY/Cedar Rapids Roughriders) have split time. Defensively, Alexander Kuqali (Pittsburgh, PA/Sioux City Musketeers) leads the team with a plus-nine and Greg Noyes (Lucan, Ontario/Salmon Arm Silverbacks) is among the national leaders among defensemen with 18 points.

Holy Cross (6-16-2, 5-10-2 AHA) enters the weekend looking to move up in the league standings after falling at home to Bentley, 5-3 on Saturday. Adam Schmidt leads the team in scoring with 15 points. Schmidt and Mike Barrett have six goals each to lead the squad, while Schmidt and Matt Vidal lead the way with nine assists apiece. Holy Cross has been outscored by its opponents, 74-51 this season. In net, Matt Ginn has played in every game for the Crusaders, recording a 2.88 goals against average and .913 save percentage. He has faced 795 shots, most in Division I.
 
The Tigers are 22-7-3 all-time against Holy Cross, 18-2-3 at the Division I level. Last season, the Tigers went 0-1-1 against Holy Cross in Worcester, Mass., falling 7-3 and skating to a 3-3 draw. The Tigers are 12-1-0 against Holy Cross at Ritter Arena in the Division I era with the lone loss coming in game one of the 2009 AHA Quarterfinal series. RIT defeated Holy Cross in both the 2008 and 2009 AHA Quarterfinals series, winning in two games in 2008 and three games in 2009.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for RIT faculty, staff and alumni and $5 for students with ID. Fans can also buy special reserved seats in Section 100 or 101 for $13 (adults), $11 (faculty/staff/alumni) or $8 (students). Buying a reserved section ticket will guarantee you a seat for the game.

Both games will be broadcast over the airwaves on WITR 89.7 FM and witr.rit.edu and on America One. Live stats are also available for both contests.

Come out and support the Tigers in their final season at Ritter Arena. Next season, the Tigers move in to the 4,200-seat Gene Polisseni Center.
