ROCHESTER, NY – The RIT baseball team (9-13, 4-10 Liberty League) dropped a pair of Liberty League contests to Union (17-5, 14-2 Liberty League) by scores of 5-1 and 11-1 on a cold, blustery, Saturday afternoon at Tiger Stadium. Union has now won 13 of its last 14 games.

In game one, Union pitcher Dane O'Neil was brilliant on the mound, allowing just three hits and one run, while striking out nine batters to improve to 5-0 on the season. O'Neil did not allow a hit until the bottom of the fifth inning, when Taylor Hogan (Rochester, NY/Brighton) singled through the left side with nobody out.

RIT scored its lone run in the fifth inning, when Jaren Bell (Rochester, NY/Brighton) hit a ground ball that scored Greg Schworm (Rochester, NY/Churchville Chili), who walked to lead off the inning.

Union scored three times in the second inning to take a 3-0 lead. Jamie Faber tripled in a run to make it 1-0, then scored on a triple by Jeff Grasso. Grasso scored on a sacrifice fly by Sam Caruso.

Tyler Leichtenberger (Warren, PA/Warren Area) took the loss on the mound for RIT, hurling a complete game. He allowed seven hits and three earned runs, while striking out four batters. Hogan had two hits, while Skip Flanagan (Framingham, MA/Bishop Feehan) had the other for the Tigers.

Faber was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and two RBI's for Union. Caruso also drove in a pair of runs.

In game two, Union ripped 15 hits and scored in six of nine innings. The Dutchmen broke the game open with three fifth inning runs to go up 6-1.

Flanagan had two hits for the Tigers. Ronnie Canestro (East Amherst, NY/Nichols) was 1-for-2 with a double and run scored, while Andrew Hughes (Jamesville, NY/Jamesville-Dewitt) had RIT's other hit. Hogan had a RBI groundout. Michael Burns (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) took the loss for the Tigers, despite throwing just 96 pitches in seven innings. He gave up nine hits and seven runs.

Eleven different batters had at least one hit for the Dutchmen in game two. Vincent Esposito was 3-for-5 with a triple and three runs scored to lead Union. Dylan Katz-Wicks was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and a run batted in. David Peretti was 2-for-3 with three RBI's.

On the mound, Phil Kemp earned his fourth win of the season, allowing three hits and a run through seven innings. He struck out seven and walked four batters.

Union now leads the all-time series between the two schools, 11-7 and is 4-2 in league contests against the Tigers since RIT moved to the Liberty League last season.

RIT and Union will complete its season series on Sunday at Tiger Stadium with the doubleheader getting underway at 12 p.m.
