TROY, NY - The RIT baseball team (9-8, 4-6 Liberty League) had its three game winning streak snapped, as Liberty League foe Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) swept a doubleheader by scores of 5-0 and 7-2 on Saturday afternoon at Robison Field.

RIT could not solve the strong Rensselaer pitching on Saturday. In game one, Mike Campisi threw his third complete-game shutout of the season, scattering 10 hits, and Sean Conroy went seven strong innings in game two .

Despite getting shutout in the opener, RIT did have 10 hits, all singles, but left six guys on base, hit into two double plays, had a runner picked off, and another caught stealing. Brian Brazee (Auburn, NY/Auburn) and Brett Kajganich (North Royalton, OH/Holy Name) were both 2 for 3 with a pair of singles. Eight of RIT's nine starters had a base hit.

On the mound, sophomore Ethan Humbert (Rose, NY/North Rose-Wolcott) took the loss on the mound in a complete game effort, his second of the year. He struck out five with no walks. RIT has scored just three runs combined in his last three starts.

Offensively, the Engineers scored two runs in the second inning and one in the third, fourth and sixth innings to support Campisi. They had 14 hits in total, led by leadoff hitter Tim LeSuer and ninth-place hitter Tyler Listing, both of whom had three base knocks. LeSuer was 3 for 4 with a double and two runs batted in. Listing was 3 for 3 with a double, a run scored and an RBI.

In game two, Rensselaer scored six runs in the bottom of the third inning to break the game open, scoring six runs on five hits. The big blows in the inning came from Adam Kalish, who delivered a two-run double with two away and Eric Kozak, who hit his first home run of the season to left field.

The Tigers fought back with single runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Brazee singled in Ronnie Canestro (East Amherst, NY/Nichols), who drew a walk with one out and moved to second on a single by #Skip Flanagan. RIT's second run came on freshman Brett Kajganich (North Royalton, OH/Holy Name)'s first collegiate home run. It was also RIT's first home run as a team in 2013.

Conroy improved to 4-1 on the hill for the Engineers, allowing two runs on four hits in seven innings. He struck out two and walked two.

Junior hurler Michael Burns (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta), who threw a complete game shutout over Clarkson in his last start, took the loss to fall to 3-2 on the season. He surrendered seven runs on 13 hits over six innings. He struck out one, without a walk. Reuben Brenner-Adams (Ithaca, NY/Ithaca (Lehman Alternative)) pitched two hitless, scoreless innings in relief.

The two teams meet once again on Sunday with the doubleheader scheduled to begin at 12 p.m.
