AUBURNDALE, FL - A day after scoring a single-game record 22 runs, the RIT baseball team (3-1) extended its winning streak to three games, slamming 17 hits to defeat Milwaukee School of Engineering by a score of 11-4 on Thursday afternoon at Chain of Lakes Park.
RIT trailed 2-0 after two innings of play, then exploded to scored five runs in the third inning to go up 5-2. RIT extended its lead to 7-2 in the fifth and then put the game away with three runs over the final two innings.
Six different Tigers had at least two hits, led by
Tyler Ramotar (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake), who was 4-for-4 with a walk, two stolen bases, two runs driven in, and one run scored. Ramotar has started the season on fire, going 11 for his first 15 (.733 batting average).
Ronnie Canestro (East Amherst, NY/Nichols) reached base four times, going 2-for-4 with a pair of walks, three runs scored, and an RBI.
Greg Schworm (Rochester, NY/Churchville Chili) and
Skip Flanagan (Framingham, MA/Bishop Feehan) each recorded two hits and two RBI's, while
Taylor Hogan (Rochester, NY/Brighton) hit a two-run double.
Walt Roman (Spencerport, NY/Spencerport) was hit by a pitch for the fourth straight game and added two hits.
CJ Bolorin (Rochester, NY/Rush-Henrietta) reached base three times on two walks and a hit, stole a base, and scored twice.
Brett Kajganich (North Royalton, OH/Holy Name) added two hits.
On the mound,
Rory Little (Burnt Hills, NY/Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake) picked up his first collegiate win for RIT, scattering eight hits and three earned runs, while striking out two batters over six innings of work.
Brian Sheridan (Trumansburg, NY/Trumansburg) came on in relief and pitched two hitless innings, while
Conor Herlihy (Geneseo, NY/Geneseo) struck out two batters in a scoreless ninth inning to close out the win.
The Tigers conclude their Spring trip on Thursday, with a double against Gwynedd Mercy College that gets underway at 12 p.m.
