BUFFALO, NY -- The RIT (5-0) men's basketball team improved to 5-0 on the season with a 77-68 win at D'Youville College (0-6) on Saturday afternoon. Freshman #
Mitch Herman (Webster, NY/Webster Schroeder)# was one of three Tigers in double figures with 18 points. The Tigers are 5-0 for the first time since the 1996-97 season.
RIT shot 47.4 percent from the floor on 27-of-57 shooting, including 9-of-24 shooting from behind the arc. RIT went 14-of-24 from the foul line and held a 49-32 rebounding edge.
Herman led the Tigers with 18 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the floor. #

RIT trailed by as many as 10 points early in the first half, before going on a 14-2 run over a 4:34 span, taking a 26-24 lead on a three-pointer by Herman.

D'Youville cut the RIT lead to 42-40 early in the second half on buckets by Julian Reed and Jon Gemerek to open the half.
The Tigers opened up a 53-43 lead thanks to a 12-3 run by the Tigers, on a free throw by Davis with 15:05 to play in the second half.
Davis drained a pair of free throws with 8:28 to play to give RIT its largest lead of the game to that point, at 67-55.
The Tigers kept the pressure on the Spartans, building their lead to 20 points on a layup by Davis with 5:40 to play.
Davis scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half, while grabbing seven second-half rebounds.
Julian Reed led D'Youville with 19 points and nine rebounds, while Jon Gemerek added 13 points. The Spartans shot 35.7 percent from the floor on 25-of-70 shooting.
RIT returns to action on Wednesday, Dec. 4 in the 48th Annual Wendy's College Classic, the nation's longest running in-season Division III Tournament. The tournament schuedule will be released on Sunday evening.
