GENESEO, NY -- The No. 8 RIT (5-1) men's basketball suffered its first loss of the season, losing to No. 1 SUNY Brockport 83-61 on Wednesday night in the first round of the 48th Annual Wendy's College Classic on the campus of SUNY Geneseo.

Kamron Davis (Syracuse, NY/Nottingham)# led RIT with 20 points and 10 rebounds, tallying 15 in the first half. #
Jameel Balenton (Syracuse, NY/Christian Brothers)# scored 11 points and had eight rebounds for the Tigers who shot 32.9 percent from the floor on 23-of-70 shooting.
RIT trailed for much of the first half, but made a late run, cutting the lead to two points on a pair of free throws by #
Gabe Nicasio (Essex Junction, VT/Essex)# with 2:46 to play. That capped off a 9-3 run for the Tigers cutting the Golden Eagles lead to 37-35.
Brockport closed out the first half on a 12-1 run, leading 49-36 at the half. The Golden Eagles shot 52.6 percent from the floor in the first half, led by Matt Lee who scored 12 points.
The Golden Eagles kept the momentum starting the second half, scoring the first 11 points of the half, taking a 60-36 lead on a layup by Brandon Caruthers.
Davis broke the slump for RIT, laying in a bucket at the 17:03 mark of the second half to make it 60-38 Brockport. Davis shot 7-of-15 from the floor and was 6-of-12 from the foul line.
Brockport built their lead to 26 points in the second half. RIT got as close as 19 points on a free throw by Davis with 8:49 to play.
Caruthers was one of four Golden Eagles in double figures, tallying 18 for Brockport who will face the winner between St. John FIsher and SUNY Geneseo in the semifinals Friday at Roberts Wesleyan College.
The Tigers will face the loser between No. 4 SUNY Geneseo and No. 5 St. John Fisher College in the consolation round on Friday at 8 p.m. on the campus of RIT.
