Men's hockey returns home to face St. Lawrence in final two non-conference games this weekend

ROCHESTER, NY –
The RIT men's hockey team returns home to play its final two non-conference regular season games of the 2013-14 season, as St. Lawrence University comes to Ritter Arena on Friday and Saturday, Nov. 22-23. Both games will get underway at 7:05 p.m. Tickets still remain for both contests.

Bugaboo Creek Steak House and Fidelity Investments are Friday's game sponsors, while Advantage Federal Credit Union and Texas Roadhouse will sponsor Saturday's contests. Friday is also a Junior Tiger Club game.

RIT (1-6-2) looks to get back into the win column after suffering a 5-2 loss at Canisius on Tuesday evening. Dan Schuler (Webster, NY/Powell River Kings) scored both RIT goals, 2:02 apart in the first period, while Todd Skirving (Thunder Bay, Ontario/Sioux Falls Stampede) dished out a pair of assists. Jordan Ruby (Tavistock, Ontario/Wellington Dukes) made a season-high 38 saves in defeat.
 
Mike Colavecchia (Maple, Ontario/Lindsay Muskies) leads the Tigers in scoring with eight points on five goals and three assists this season. He is just 11 points shy of 100 for his career. Ruby has a 3.52 goals against average and .896 save percentage.

St. Lawrence (6-4-2)  enters this weekend's contests looking to snap a two-game losing streak. Last weekend, the Saints, who were ranked No. 17 nationally, dropped a pair of home games to ECAC rivals Colgate, 5-3, and Cornell, 5-2. St. Lawrence is outscoring its opponents 45-42 this season. The Saints have the sixth best offense in Division I. Brothers Greg and Matt Carey lead St. Lawrence in scoring. Greg, a senior was a Hobey Baker Finalist in 2013. He is off to a great start in 2013-14, with 21 points on seven goals and 14 assists in 12 games. His 21 points lead all of Division I. Matt, a freshman, has 14 points on nine goals and five assists. In net, Matt Weninger is 5-4-2 with a 3.35 goals against average and .882 save percentage.
 
St. Lawrence freshman forward Trevor Hills is the son of RIT Associate Head Coach Brian Hills.

The Saints lead the all-time series between the two schools, 8-3-0 and hold a 5-3-0 against RIT since the Tigers moved to Division I in 2005. Last season, the Tigers and Saints split a pair of one-goal games at St. Lawrence, with both games ending 4-3. On Oct. 28, 2005, former RIT goaltender Jocelyn Guimond (Quebec City, PQ/Williams Lake) set a  Division I single-game record for saves in a regulation game with 66, as the Tigers knocked off nationally-ranked St. Lawrence, 3-2.

Tickets are available for both games at the Gordon Field House and Activities Center Box Office or by phone at (585) 475-4121. Fans can also purchase tickets at www.rithockey.com. Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for RIT faculty, staff and alumni and $5 for students with ID. Fans can also buy special reserved seats in Section 100 or 101 for $13 (adults), $11 (faculty/staff/alumni) or $8 (students). Buying a reserved section ticket will guarantee you a seat for the game.

Both games will be aired live on Time Warner Cable Sports Channel 26 with Gene Battaglia and John DiTullio bringing you the action from Ritter Arena.  In addition, both games will be broadcast via internet on America One Sports network and over the airwaves on WITR 89.7 FM and witr.rit.edu.
